The Management Committee and Trustees 

Les Isaac, Trustee and Chair

Les is a founder member of the group who attended the first meeting held by Clare Colton. He was captivated by Clare’s vision and has since attended all the meetings held by the Group.  His granddaughter has recently left Crosby High School.

Sandra Redwood, Trustee and Treasurer

Sandra is a highly respected member of both the the Management of our Charity, and Crosby High School.

Sandra is currently the Business Manager of Crosby High School, and her personal and professional skills are of great assistance to our organisation.

Lorraine Siddons, Trustee

Lorraine is a very high qualified member of our team, and her organisational skills and hard work make her extremely valuable when we are organising the Summer Day Trips.

Lorraine attends all the Committee Meetings and ensures that new ideas are always presented to the Board.

Her sons currently attend the school.

Sue McNally, Trustee

Sue is very active in the community and has helped many local charities in recent times.  Sue has a great warmth and personality, and she made some lovely cakes for the Christmas Prize Bingo Night 2018.  Her daughter currently attends Crosby High School.

Wendy McNulty, Trustee.

Wendy is a dedicated member of our team, and attends all the Committee Meetings.  Wendy was very helpful when she was a steward on the Summer Day Trips and the Christmas Prize Bingo Night 2018.

Dawn McNulty, Trustee.

Dawn is another dedicated member of our team, and is very helpful with all our activities.

Josie McElhinney, Trustee.

Josie is a great help when we are planning the Summer Day Trips, and works very hard to ensure that there are no problems.

Lesley Stevenson, (Retired)

Lesley was a founder member of our group and had been the Treasurer since its inaugoration.

Sadly, Lesley has had to retire because of work and family commitments.

We wish Lesley every success and happiness for the future.

The following people have all been great members of our Committee, but unfortunately they have had to retire because of work and family commitments:-

Clare Colton, Lee Mainey, Maureen Hogan, Susan Hough, and John Doyle.

We hope that they all enjoy good health and happiness in the future.

Meeting dates

 

The following dates and times have been agreed for future Management Committee Meetings:-

 

The next Committee Meeting will be arranged as soon as the current restrictions are lifted, and it is safe to resume activities.

The venue will be Crosby High School.

On this date, all Easter Night Bingo Prizes will be wrapped.

 

 

The Christmas Prize Bingo Night organised for Thursday 5th December 2019 went ahead as planned and everybody had a great time.

All families with a child at Crosby High School were invited to this popular event.

 

This year the Easter Prize Bingo Night was sadly cancelled because of the current emergency.

 

The Easter Prize Bingo Night on the 29th March 2019 was a great success and everyone enjoyed the evening.

 

The visit to the Plaza Cinema on Monday 26th March 2018 to see the film 'Brer Rabbit' was very popular and enjoyable.  

All families with a child at Crosby High School were invited to these very popular events.

Topics currently being discussed

(1)  Easter Family Fun Days

 

   A large number of our families were able to visit the Plaza Cinema on two accasions in the Spring of 2017, and see some of the latest films to be released.

   The Plaza Cinema staff were very helpful, and this helped to ensure that both occassions were a great success.

 

(2)  Charity Registration

The Charity Commission has approved the application of Crosby High Childrens Support Group to be recognised as a Registered Charity, and has issued the group with a registration number. 

 

(3)  Safeguarding.  Crosby High Childrens Support Group takes the safeguarding of vulnerable children and adults very seriously, and our group has a very comprehensive Safeguarding Policy document.  All Committee Members have been cleared by an Enhanced DBS check, and every single one has been trained to Safeguarding Level 2.  Any person, irrespective of age, gender, religion, etc. can approach one of our Committee Members with any safeguarding or other concern, and the matter will be investigated and handled in accordance with our Safeguarding Policy.  

All details will be kept confidential, and the appropriate action taken to address the problem.  Any person that wants a copy of our Safeguarding Policy document can approach any Committee Member of our Charity, or ask for a copy at the Reception of Crosby High School.

 

(4)  Future Social Evenings

The Easter Prize Bingo Night will be on Thursday 2nd April 2020.

 With lots of prizes available, all the children that attend are assured of getting at least one prize during the evening.

(5)  The Summer Day Trips Survey 2018

A survey to establish where the children would like to visit in 2018/19 was carried out at Crosby High School. Each family could choose 4 different venues.

63 families responded to the survey, and the most popular places chosen by the children and their families were:-

Southport Pleasureland 54 votes, Gullivers World 43 votes, Chester Zoo 40 votes, Blackpool Zoo 24 votes, The Blue Planet 22 votes, Knowsley Safari Park 18 votes. Croxteth Park 17 votes, Trentham Gardens Monkey Forest 16 votes, and Tatton Park 10 votes. 

 

This survey was used to determine the Venues to be visited in 2018 and 2019.

 

Any Parent/Carer who would like to contribute to the process of selecting venues, or helping in the planning and running of our Day Trips,

is welcome to attend any of our Committee Meetings.  

 

A similar survey will be carried out in 2020 to see if the children would like to go to somewhere new.

 

(6)  Recent Events.

In the summer of 2012, a series of Day Trips saw a large number of our families visit:-

The Lake District, Chester Zoo, and Croxteth Park.

A large number of our families also went to Tatton Park in the Easter Break of 2013.

The above trips were made possible by funding from The Big Lottery organisation.

 

In the summer of 2013, a series of Day Trips saw a large number of our families visit:-

The Lake District, The Blue Planet, Gullivers World, and Croxteth Park.

The above four trips were made possible by funding provided by the BBC Children In Need organisation.

During the Easter Recess of 2014, a large number of our families enjoyed a Family Fun Day on the school premises.

This event was also sponsored and financed by the BBC Children In Need organisation. 

 

 

In the summer of 2014, The group's Day Trips saw our families visit:-

Gullivers World, Blackpool Zoo, Knowsley Safari Park and Tatton Park.

These trips were all made possible by funding from The Big Lottery organisation.

In 2015, a large number of families enjoyed a Easter Family Fun Day on the school premises.

This event was also sponsored and financed by The Big Lottery organisation.

 

 

In the summer of 2015, a series of Day Trips saw a large number of our families visit:-

Blackpool Zoo, Trentham Gardens Monkey Forest, Crosby Lakeside Activity Centre, and Croxteth Park.

In the Autumn of 2015, a large number of our families were also able to visit the Plaza Cinema.

In the Easter recess 2016, many of our children and their families were also able to enjoy another

great Family Fun Day on the school premises.

The above trips and events were all made possible by funding from the BBC Children In Need organisation.

 

In the summer of 2016, a series of Day Trips saw a large number of our families visit:-

Gullivers World, Knowsley Safari Park, Blackpool Zoo and The Blue Planet.

In the Autumn of 2016, and the Spring of 2017 a large number of our children and their families were also able to visit the PLaza Cinema.

All the above trips were made possible by funding from The Big Lottery Fund. 

 

In the summer of 2017, a series of Day Trips saw a large number of our families visit:-

Chester Zoo, Tatton Park, Trentham Gardens Monkey Forest, and the Knowsley Safari Park.

In the Autumn of 2017 a large number of our families were able to visit the Plaza Cinema to see the very popular film

'The LEGO NINJAGO Movie'.

All the above trips have been made possible by funding provided by the BBC Children in Need organisation.

 

In the summer of 2018, a series of Day Trips saw a large number of our families visit:-

Gullivers World, Southort Pleasureland, Chester Zoo and Croxteth Park.

All the above trips were made possible by Funding from The Big Lottery Fund.

 

In the summer of 2019, a series of Day Trips saw a large number of our families visit:-

Southport Pleasureland, Chester Zoo, and Croxteth Park.

All the above trips have been made possible by the kindness and generosity of The National Lottery Communities Fund. 

The annual Christmas Bingo Nights started in 2014, and have always been very popular every year.

 

The Christmas Prize Bingo Night, which took place on Thursday 5th December 2019, was one of our best ever events.

 

 

 

Latest News

 

Summer Day Trips 2019

 

The Day trips to Southport Pleasureland, Chester Zoo, and Croxteth Park

all went ahead in the summer of 2019, and everyone had a wonderful time.

 

The Radio City Tower

 

Radio City and the Cash for Kids organisation kindly invited a group of our families to visit the Radio City Tower

on Monday 24th August 2015, to view Liverpool and the surrounding areas from this unique location.

The visit went ahead as planned, and everybody had a great time.

We thank all the people at Radio City and at Cash for Kids for all the kindness

and generosity shown to our families on the day of the visit.  

In December 2019, Radio City and the Cash for Kids organisation devoted a lot of time and effort into the Mission Christmas 2019 appeal, which saw thousands of children recieving unexpected Christmas Presents.

We are very grateful for the many presents that were given to our children at this time.

A similar event was held in the December of 2018, and once again many of our children received lovely presents in time for Christmas, so 'Thank You' very much to everyone at Radio City and Cash for Kids.

 

 

 

The Next Management Committee Meeting

Venue, Crosby High School.

All parents and carers of children who attend Crosby High School are very welcome to attend any of our meetings.

 

The next Committee Meeting will be arranged as soon as the current restrictions are lifted, and it is safe to resume activities.

 

The AGM went ahead on Friday 22nd November 2019, The Annual Report was delivered, and the annual accounts were available for discussion.

The Group reflected upon the success of the 2018/19 period, and established an agenda for the coming year.

The Trustees and Officers were all elected, and the plans for the year 2019/20 approved.

 

Facebook and Twitter Accounts

Although Crosby High Childrens Support Group has the facility to use Facebook and Twitter, these facilities are dormant accounts due to lack of resources.

Any account that appears on Facebook or Twitter that has our name or a similar name, has no connection with our group.
